How old is the foundation?
Originally founded on August 24, 2015, as Operation Blue Shield, we are now doing business as One CommunityUSA.
Is One CommunityUSA a nonprofit?
One CommunityUSA is a public charity exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code. Our Federal Employer Tax ID Number is 47-4896404.
What does One CommunityUSA do?
One CommunityUSA is dedicated to creating safe, secure neighborhoods through comprehensive cause-minded community engagement programs that unite, raise awareness and foster positive relationships between first responders and citizens living in the communities they serve and protect. Our education, health, second chance, civic engagement, safety and advocacy programs are the necessary components to improving lives and building safe, secure cities of opportunity for all.
What are your sources of funding?
One CommunityUSA finances its work through individual contributions, corporate donations, foundation grants and planned gifts. One CommunityUSA relies on in-kind contributions and special events to lessen the cost of goods and services. One CommunityUSA does not solicit contributions over the phone or door-to-door.

We are partnered with Kickstart Kids® and Hope for Prisoners to achieve a common goal of making our neighborhoods safe, stable and economically vibrant places to live, work and thrive.
How do I volunteer as a citizen or first responder?

If I make a donation, how will my money be used?
Your donation will be used for our comprehensive cause-minded community engagement programs that unite, raise awareness and foster positive relationships between first responders and citizens. Our education, health, second chance, civic engagement, safety and advocacy programs improve lives and build safe, secure cities of opportunity for all.
Is my contribution tax deductible?
Yes. One CommunityUSA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. As such, financial contributions may be deductible for federal income tax purposes. Please consult with your financial advisor to determine the extent of tax deductibility. A tax receipt will be sent to our email for verification of your donation.
Monthly giving helps us build foundations of trust
Please consider a monthly gift to help us continue to bring our community-building programs into neighborhoods that need a hand up. Click the DONATE button at the top-right corner of your screen. Then check the box below the gift amount to indicate you would like your gift to be processed each month, and complete the form. Once you submit the form, your monthly gift will be processed automatically with the credit card information you provided.
When will my credit card be charged?
Your first gift will be charged immediately when you create it online. Subsequent gifts will be charged each month on the same or next closest business date to your initial donation date. Monthly sustaining gift requests received by mail or phone will be processed 24–48 business hours after receipt.
Will I receive verification of my donations for tax purposes?
Each month, after your donation is processed, you will receive an email with your donation receipt attached. Please print or save these emails and attachments as your gift receipts. If you don’t see these notifications in your email Inbox, check your Spam or Junk folders.
How do I stop or change my recurring donation?
Contact the Communities Foundation of Texas at 214-750-4222 to suspend the recurring plan temporarily until a specific date or suspend it indefinitely to fully cancel the plan.
Will I receive monthly updates about our progress?
In addition to knowing you’ve joined One CommunityUSA on our mission to bring programs of positive change to neighborhoods in need, you’ll also receive our quarterly newsletter, which includes updates about our progress and the positive impact we are having as we lift one community at a time.
